Ambassador Faraz Zaidi paid an official visit to Novi Pazar, one of Serbia’s most historically significant and culturally distinctive municipalities in the Sandžak region. The visit focused on strengthening institutional linkages, fostering people-to-people contacts, and gaining deeper insight into the city’s heritage and contemporary role within Serbia.

During his meeting with the Mayor of Novi Pazar, Mr. Nihat Biševac, they discussed possibilities of future cooperation and strengthening ties between Pakistan and Novi Pazar.

In addition, Ambassador Zaidi met with Dr. Mevlud Dudić, President of the Islamic Community in Serbia, who briefed him on the community’s contribution to charitable causes, cultural preservation and social cohesion in the Sandžak region.

As part of his engagements with academic institutions, the Ambassador visited the University of Novi Pazar, where he was received by its Rector, Professor Dr. Suad Bećirović. The two discussed possibilities for collaboration with institutions in Pakistan.

He also visited the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Novi Pazar and met with its Dean, Dr. Enver Omerović. The Ambassador commended its role in promoting interfaith harmony and contributing to the academic development of the region.

The visit provided valuable insight into the historical, educational, and economic character of Novi Pazar. The discussions held are expected to lay the groundwork for constructive engagement through cultural, academic, economic, and municipal cooperation, contributing to stronger people-to-people ties.
